Haarlem Station
The  rather heavily populated (around 420,000) metro area of the city of Haarlem is considered part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area.  It is in the province of North Holland and can be reached by rail from Amsterdam Sloterdijk station in about 13 minutes.

The city dates back to the late 13th century.  Haarlem is appreciated for its museums, historic architecture, and shopping areas.  The city is also renowned for its beer.  Haarlem has over 100 local breweries.  Interestingly, Haarlem is first in the world to ban advertisements for some meats in public spaces.  The ban is due to meat production’s negative effect on the climate.
